Laparoscopic Surgery

Laparoscopic surgery, often referred to as "minimally invasive," is a specialized surgical technique. While it was once primarily used for gynecologic and gall bladder surgeries, it has recently been adopted in intestinal surgery. In traditional "open" surgery, a single incision is made to access the abdomen, whereas laparoscopic surgery involves several small (0.5-1cm) incisions, known as "ports." Laparoscopic surgery offers benefits such as reduced pain, quicker recovery, and less scarring compared to traditional open surgery.
